How can cosmetic injectables get rid of my wrinkles?

The concept of anti-wrinkle injectables has been circulating for decades and as time goes on, science has revealed more efficient and effective methods of achieving smooth, wrinkle free skin. Here at Victoria’s we have divided our anti-wrinkle injectables into two main types: active wrinkle treatments & static wrinkle treatments.

What’s the difference between static and active wrinkles?

·        Active wrinkles

Active, or dynamic wrinkles, are caused by contraction of muscles that are attached to the overlying skin. Every time the muscle contracts it causes the skin to actively move. This forms lines between the bulk of the muscle.

This type of wrinkle is usually found between the eyebrows; commonly known as the “frown lines” across the forehead, and on the outer corners of the eyes; commonly known as “crow’s feet”.

·        Static wrinkles

Static facial wrinkles are visible regardless of muscle contraction. Static wrinkles are due to lack of elasticity of the skin which is usually caused by one or more of the following factors:

  • age
  • smoking
  • genetics
  • sun damage
  • poor nutrition
  • prolonged dynamic wrinkling

What areas do anti-wrinkle injectables treat?

Active wrinkle treatments and static wrinkle treatments can be used widely for the elimination of:

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Active horizontal forehead wrinkles
  • Crow’s feet or smile lines around the eyes
  • Bunny Scrunch lines at the sides of the nose
  • Smoker Lines – only some clients are suitable

They can also be used to:

  • Reduce chin dimpling or creasing
  • Relax lines on the sides of the nose (bunny scrunch)
  • Can also be used to relax the upper lip to treat gummy smiles
  • Re-shape your eyebrows – the horizontal brow, arched brow, flared brow
  • Relax nasolabial folds between the nose and mouth, perioral lines
  • Lift the eyebrow and open up the eye
  • Reduce tight neck bands

Effective treatment of static wrinkles can be any one or a combination of things from active topical creams, sun protection and/or multiple treatments of laser, fractionated sub-lative rejuvenation, derma-stamping, intense pulsed light.

Wrinkles that cause folds between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds) may need more invasive treatments, but alternatively these can be camouflaged temporarily by plumping up the lines with dermal fillers.

How can cosmetic injectables get rid of excessive sweating?

Hyperhidrosis, the condition of excessive underarm perspiration can now be treated with a series of special injections focused to target the sweating problem at its source.  The result of this treatment is dramatic and can last for as long as 10 to 12 months.

How can cosmetic injectables enhance my lips?

As we age the natural definition and fullness of our lips diminish. Lip fillers are designed to restore volume to your lips using naturally occurring solutions. At Victoria’s Cosmedi Spa Dr Julie Ostberg and Anne Talbot R.N. perform the procedure using dermal fillers that defines the border of the lip and the body of the lip.
