You may be suffering from Hyperhidrosis, a condition that causes excessive perspiration…

It is edging ever closer to winter and many Australians are beginning to rug up. If you experience chronic sweating even when you are cold, it is very likely you suffer from a condition called Hyperhidrosis. At Victoria’s Cosmedi Spa in Launceston, we are able to treat Hyperhidrosis to help our clients reclaim their quality of life.

What is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is a condition that affects the underarms and causes the sufferer to sweat excessively. Those with this condition are unable to wear light coloured clothing or certain fabrics such as silk as it makes their condition very noticeable. Their clothes can become stained, and fabrics can be ruined by excessive perspiration. Profuse sweating can also lead to painful skin maceration, which can result in secondary infection!

This is why it is important to seek a solution to excessive sweating; not just for your self-esteem and confidence (which will definitely heighten after gaining treatment) but also for your general health.

What can I do about my Hyperhidrosis?

Many live with the idea that there simply is no answer to their excessive sweating, or that they don’t even have a condition! Many clients previously lived their lives dealing with it – applying extra amounts of antiperspirant or changing their clothes on a regular basis during the day. At Victoria’s Cosmedi Spa, we are now able to help those suffering from excessive sweating by stopping it at the source!

While some treatments require topical applications or even surgical removal of the sweat glands, at Victoria’s Cosmedi Spa we are able to use a much less invasive approach that works just as well.

A series of special injections can be used to target the problem at its very core, and once administered by Dr Julie Ostberg, the solution enters the glands situated in the underarms and effectively works to block the chemical that signals the perspiration. A procedure that takes around 10 minutes can help you achieve longer lasting results!

Are there any side-effects to your Hyperhidrosis treatment?

The muscle relaxant used to effectively block the chemical receptors in the glands is a product that has been used worldwide since 1989. Recovery is immediate and side effects may include mild temporary bruising and some redness. Typically any other side-effects experienced are minimal and temporary. Dr Ostberg will always discuss the treatment thoroughly with you prior to treatment, so you can be fully informed before you make the decision to proceed.

How long will treatment last?

The treatment itself takes just 10 minutes, but the results it achieves are extremely long lasting in comparison! The results are dramatic and have been known to last from 10 to 12 months. Most of our clients experience a perspiration-free existence for about nine months, after which they experience a gradual return to their original state after this time.

If you suffer from excessive sweating our high quality treatment can provide you with minimal downtime, is minimally invasive and offers dramatic, long-term results.
