If have been feeling a little embarrassed about any excessive hair on your back, stomach or shoulders, Victoria’s Cosmedi Spa has the perfect solution for you.
Rid yourself of the need for razors and forget about those cringe-worthy wax encounters, Laser offers a longer lasting alternative.
What is in it for you?
As a safer alternative to other hair removal options, Laser Permanent Hair Reduction can benefit you in a variety of ways:
- Reduces the risk of shaving bumps
- Doesn’t give you chemical burns like some creams
- Considerably reduces the risk of ingrown hairs
- Makes the hair softer, thinner and less abrasive
- Permanently reduces hair growth
Even though waxing is a solution for hair removal, for it to work properly it requires hair growth and can often lead to skin irritation, inflammation and ingrown hairs. In some rare cases, Laser may cause skin irritation and slight inflammation, but the symptoms pass generally within the first 24 hours (unlike waxing rashes which can last for weeks).
Why you need more than one appointment to eliminate all hairs
Laser Permanent Hair Reduction becomes permanent by administering treatment depending on the stage of the life cycle that your individual hair follicles are in.
There are 3 phases:
- Anagen – growth phase where the hair is growing
- Catagen – the transition phase where the hair sort of shrivels and weakens
- Telogen – the resting phase where the hair sheds
As you age this cycle generally rotates. When you chose to undergo treatment, the hair follicles that are affected are in the anagen phase. This counts for roughly 85% of the hairs on your body. So if you are to treat the hairs during this time, those particular hairs will likely never grow back. This is why it is often necessary for repeat appointments to clear away all the hairs.
Permanent Hair Reduction
If you choose Laser Permanent Hair Reduction at Victoria’s Cosmedi Spa, you’ll need to prepare the area first. Don’t worry this is nothing serious – all we need you to do is shave away the existing hair a couple days before you come to your appointment.
We know it may seem strange, but in order for the treatment to be most effective, the laser needs to be right up close to the root of your hairs and if you have a bit of fuzz collecting in the area, the hair will burn and cause unnecessary discomfort for your skin.
When should you shave?
We recommend you trim or shave 2-3 days before your treatment for optimal success.
What to expect during your treatment
To help you feel comfortable about your visit we’ve provided a step by step process of what to expect for your treatment:
- Eye protection
We will give you a pair of protective glasses to wear during your treatment. Your safety is of highest concern to us.
- Gentle application of ultrasound gel
This is used to prepare the treatment area and can feel a little cold against your skin.
- Laser procedure
With the Laser handheld piece, your qualified nurse will carefully glide the light into the gel.
- Removal of gel
The gel will be gently wiped away along with some of the hairs. Most of the remaining hairs will discreetly fall from the follicles over the next 3-4 weeks.
- Return appointment
Roughly between 4-6 weeks after your treatment you will need to return to assist in removing the remaining growth. Your Victoria’s Clinic Registered Nurse will assess the area and give you an approximate estimation of when the best time would be for your next appointment.
